What Is The Treatment For Pain In Ankle And Feet?

I have had deep vein thrombosis for over 16 years now, Since being diagnosed with this condition in 1998 , I have been continuously on a medication, Coumadin/warfarin. Until now I have never had any complications. But 3 months ago my left foot & ankle started aching & over past 3 months it has gotten progressively worse. I went to see my internal doctor & he referred me to a vein doctor who examined my left leg & left foot/ankle. This exam showed no new blood clots in fact none exist in my left leg or foot. The doctor says that I have a condition called post thrombotic syndrome and the only thing he can suggest is for me to start wearing compression stockings daily. Would you have other ideas or suggestions.
