I have a question!! I just recently got parotitis, or so my doctor thinks, on my right side. I was feeling fine with no symptoms before it happened. It just suddenly came out of nowhere. This was a little over a month ago. My doctor gave me Keflex 500 mgs twice a day for two weeks. Right after within a week, I started to feel the symptoms return so I went back to my doctor and he gave me Keflex again this time for 10 days 500 mgs 4x a day. I am 7 days into this 10 day treatment and the swelling is gone, but I still have facial pressure and it feels sometimes like it is hard to open my mouth. My body temperature is usually between 97.7 and 98.6 when I am feeling fine, but this whole thing for the last month has had my body temperature between 97.7 up to like 99,6, but it never has reached 100 once. I don t know what to do!! I am tired of having this face pressure and it feels intermittent. It is not always constant. When this face pressure hits I can get dull headaches across and right above my eyes and a feeling of pressure under chin. It still sometimes feels tender right under my ear and sometimes when I go to get a drink of something I get pain in my cheek up to my ear. My doctor sent me to my dentist because she was confident it was dental problems causing this, but with x-rays and an exam the dentist says my mouth, teeth and mandibular x-ray is normal. I am getting scared now!! I don t feel sick at all just tired of facial pressure and my teeth feeling pressure also. Also, I am tired of my temperature spiking in the 99 s because it makes me feel hot. My temperature is always normal in the morning and usually when I go to bed at night. It is just during the day it spikes at different times. I know it is warm in my house, but normally like I said my temperature is always normal and my doctor said that since it has never hit a 100 degrees that I don t really have a fever so he is not worrying. My dentist said he could feel the swelling when he did my oral exam and suggested Clindamycin, but Clindamycin is so hard on my GI tract and makes me feel like my large intestine is on fire. My dentist also suggested that my parotid gland could be blocked. Help!! Any suggestions as to what is going on? Thanks, Diana Baum
