What Is The Treatment For Strep Infection As Penicillin Didn't Work?
My son tested weak positive on 2 rapid strep (same saliva sample). He finished the usual penicilin round and his throat felt better but after about 3 days is worse again with pus pockets on his tonsils. He is 18. Should he have another (not rapid) strep test and possibly a test for mono?

You could change the antibiotic and look for some cause of the infection in the throat. Getting throat swab again and again will not help much .
You should consult your doctor and give him azithromycin or cephalosporin group of medicine.
In addition germicidal gargles will help a lot.
There could be a nasal or dental cause for the recurrent enlargement of tonsils.
In doubt do reply.
