What Might Be Causing Vomiting With Diarrhea?

My three year old daughter has been vomiting for 18 days only at night, along with diarrhea. A first Dr. treated her as if she had a stomach bug. The next dr. did blood and urine test which all came back normal. On vomiting day 15 we took her to the ER because bile was pouring out her nose as she dry-heaved that night. An x-ray showed that her bowels were really backed up, They told us to give her an over the counter laxative. They Doubled the dose for the the day for that of an adult. It is now day 4 of taking the laxative, with only 3 or 4 small bowel movements, she is STILL vomiting. What can I do to get these Dr.s moving of my poor baby girl? She is hurting.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Thanks for the query.
I can understand your concern.
I would like to advise you to go for usg abdomen, liver funtion test, urine test.

Certain infections, pyloric obstruction, Gastroparesis or slow stomach emptying, brain injuries, and drug reactions can cause recurrent vomiting.

In a condition known as cyclic vomiting syndrome that usually onsets in childhood, patients have periodic episodes of repeated persistent vomiting that may last hours, days, or weeks.

Drinking small amounts of clear, sweetened liquids such as soda or fruit juices (except orange and grapefruit juices because these are too acidic) may help.

Hope i helped you.
