Hi,

It appears that amount of either methadone or cannabis that he is taking, is more than what his body is tolerant to. That is why, he appears to be intoxicated in the evenings. He need not be doing heroin to be intoxicated as both cannabis and methadone can be responsible for that. If his eyes appear to be congested, with dryness of mouth, rapid heart beat, increased appetite and behavioral changes, then it is most probably due to cannabis. If none of these are present, and there is just drowsiness with slurred speech, then methadone is likely to be responsible. Pinpoint pupils also suggest that methadone is implicated.

Best wishes.
