What Time During The Day Should I Get The Blood Culture Done For Filaria ?
How to diagnose a filaria? I have done all the diagnosis process except the blood culture . I have gone to do it but the doctor said it will be done at the midnight time between 12:00-2:00 only. I did not do at that time. Is there any other option to do it in the day time?

Diagnosis of W.bancroftian filariasis is based on the microscopic detection
of microfilariae in blood samples at night because that is the feeding time for the parasite specifically.
It may be missed in daytime.
Go in midnight.

diagnosis is by gold standard finger pric blood film thick and thin by giemsa stain
fingerprick should be done at night if w.bancrofti is the wormand day time finger prick if loa loa is responsible
antigenic assays can be done for amicrofilaraemic cases
lymh node aspiration/chylous fluid aspiration may also detect microfilaria
x rays can detect calcified worms
ct scan m r i can have dancing sign of microfilaria in lymh fluids
you may be admitted in hospital for midnight blood sample and culture in hospita
