What To Do For Heavy Bleeding During Periods?

Hi. I am 42 years old and have been suffering from heavy periods for over a year for which I take tranexamic acid. I am newly diagnosed with coeliac disease and have had my iron bumped up to three times daily. I recently used norethisterone for three weeks to cover a holiday and wedding. Since stopping it I have had severe headaches and have just started a period yesterday. Last night I passed clots which is normal for me at the moment but also a thick, white piece of tissue which was shaped like a two inch long tube. Any ides what this is and should I speak to the GP? Thanks
