What To Do If Having Dent In The Shin After Hurting During Pole Vault?

I pole vault, and about 3 weeks ago my lower shin got hit with the end of my pole and I had a sprained ankle from it and my lower shin was bruised and I had a large lump with a dent in the middle. I figured the dent was only apparent due to the lump surrounding it, however the lump disappeared but the dent is still there along with some bruising, it stings when I walk and whenever something touches it. Wondering if it s just a deep bruise or possibly something else that I should get looked at.

Hi,

It may be a post-traumatic depressed scar. There is no need to take treatment as it is harmless and just a scar. If it is embarrassing cosmetically, it may be removed surgically by a plastic surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel, Dermatologist
