What Treatment Can Be Done To Cure Bed Sores ?
his age is 68, height 5 7 , weight is 48 and is having bed sores since he admitted from the hospital for his fracture in right leg n he s having sugar how can i stop the bed sores?

hi,thanks for query.This is the commonest problem in patients who are confined to bed for long time specially aged patients.Use water bed or air bed instead of traditional mattress,do regular dressing of bed sore,make sure that he does not passes stool or urine in bed which can contaminate and lead to more problem.Make him turn on his sides as per permission from your doctor.Give good diet rich in proteins and above all good sugar control is must.

bedsores when the dependant areas remain compressed due to inability to change position ourselves. lack of circulation there results in damage to skin in that area and gradually the lesion gets depper if not controlled.
to prevent most important thing is to change position of the patient every 2-3 hours. he should not be lying with pressure on any area for more than 2-3 hours.
keep the skin there dry. if the patient passes urine in bed immedialtely clean it. do not let him lie in wet bed for long.whatever bed sores are formed do regular dressings as advised by surgeon.
keeping the diet healthy forms an important part of healing of the bed sores.
also get the blood sugars under control to allow rapid healing.
use of air mattreses also help in shifting pressure from different dependant areas. your doctor will tell you about them in detail.
