hello. My brother-in-law has chronic hiccups for many years and there seems to be an issue in finding the right doctor that will treat his illness. He has difficulty eating, sleeping and has to drink water while bending over. Is this a case for a Gastroenterologist (digestive)? Thank you so much!
Hiccups though a simple thing if acute can be very distressing if chronic and this has to be investigated thoroughly so that a cause can be reached and treatment started. You need to first consult your ENT who will do a complete examination and may also advice further evaluation with a gastroenterologist, neurologist and physician
hoping him a speedy recovery
