What Type Of Epilepsy Does Epilex And Olimet Treat? Reason For EEG To Be Abnormal?
Hello, I am planning to adopt a 4 year old girl. She has epilepsy . She is taking Epilex syrup 3.5ml Bd and 1/4 Olimet tablet. What type of epilepsy do these drugs treat? We are trying to understand what type of epilepsy she may have. She had a convulsion and was hospitalised at 18 mths. She had an MRI test at 36 months which was normal. Her last two EEG test have been abnormal but we don t know why. Can you advise? Thank you.

What Type Of Epilepsy Does Epilex And Olimet Treat? Reason For EEG To Be Abnormal?
Hi, Thank you for posting your query. Epilex (sodium valproate) is a broad spectrum anti-epileptic drug and is useful against various types of epilepsies. Olimet (olanzapine) is an anti-psychotic drug and has no anti-epileptic properties. Normal MRI report is a good news! Abnormal EEG suggests a diagnosis of epilepsy. At this point, anti-epileptic drugs should be continued. Please discuss these issues with the neurologist.
