What Would Cause Headache And Numbness On Left Side Of Face?

Hi. I was told to attend A&E yesterday because I had a strange headache, nothing like I have had before, and numbness in the left side of my face. It had gone within an hour but the doctors are stumped as to what it could be as I didn t have typical TIA or migraine symptoms. Any ideas?

Hello,

First of all, some types of migraine have similar symptoms of TIA. But, if you had recurrent vertigo with the numbness of your face, It would be TIA.

So, you should do some investigations such as: measuring blood pressure, lipid profile and an MRI T2-weighted Brain.

The result of the investigations can help us with your treatment. Second, if you are a woman and take oral contraceptive pills or hormonal replacement therapy, you should ask a gynecologist for help.

The modification of your lifestyle such as stop smoking, drinking and eating fat-rich diet can help with your treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
