Yesterday I was given the contraceptive pill Rigevidon by my doctor, and was wondering if I start taking it straight away instead of getting my period, how long will it be until I am protected against pregnancy? Is it even possible to start straight away?

Hello,
If your periods are coming in a few days then I suggest you start the medication after your periods, but if you have still time for your periods to come then start taking it.
The usual way to take the pill is to take one every day for 21 days, then stop for seven days, and during this week you have a period-type bleed. You need to take the pill at around the same time every day.
You could get pregnant if you don't do this, or if you miss a pill, or vomit or have severe diarrhea.
