When Is Ideal Timeframe To Take Pregnancy Test For Best Results?
Hi i am currently on the microgynon 30 ed contraceptive pill and have been for 9 months ive always had a withdrawal bleed during the placebo week until last week(which was my placebo week)i had nothing at all i took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative was it too early to test?if so when should i test to get accurate results?
The best time to take a pregnancy test is at least 7-10 days after the missed period and that too using the first morning urine sample. If you have used the pills regularly then failure is unlikely.
Other reasons for missed periods apart from pregnancy include stress, heavy exercise, thyroid and prolactin problems and ovarian cysts. Oral contraceptives may also caused a missed period at times. So please repeat the test after 7 days for confirmation. If it is still negative then wait for the next cycle while continuing your pills. If the next period is also delayed see your gynecologist and get evaluated.
Do not worry. This is most likely stress or due to pills. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM. Feel free to ask any more questions that you may have. Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist
