When Is Just Metformin And When Is It Prescribed In Combination With Sitagliptin ?
I've been taking metformin for quite a long time (0.5g in the morning and 0.5g in the evening). Now I heard that metformin and sitagliptin combo works better in type 2. can you explain when you prescribe just metformin and when the combination with sitagliptin? (Sanjib Banerjee from Kolkata)
Diabetes is a progressive illness. Some persons may start with requiring only lifestyle changes to control blood sugars, this would then progress to requiring increasing medications.
Medications would be added to metformin , if the metformin alone is not able to control the blood sugars.
I hope this helps
