Hello Dr. Grief, yesterday I drove approximately 120 miles nonstop. I walked for about 5 minutes and got on the car again to drive when I felt a sharp pain on my left knee cap. After driving approximately another 15 miles, I was home and looked at the knee. I noticed a swollen vein right on top of the knee cap, compared it with my right knee cap (which didn't have the same vein at the particular location). The pain has not stopped (it is continuous, especially if the knee is bent). One fact that you must know is that I have varicose veins on the inner side of the left calf (closer to the knee). Which specialist should I visit first, a knee specialist or a varicose vein specialist? Thanks in advance for the advise.
