Which Medication To Be Given For High Fever?

My 12 year old daughter has been exposed to the flu. We are headed out if town! Her pediatrician gave a Tamiflu for us to take along! I also have Keflex for her, which was prescribed as a "just in case" when she was with her dad over Thanksgiving.p! She didn't need it! She woke up from a nap a couple of hours ago with a 101.8 temp....not unusual..she runs HIGH fevers.

Hi thanks for your question.
Flue can cause high degree of fever She needs Consultation from a physician to establish the cause of high fever, whether it is due to flue or there is some other cause of fever.Kflex is an antibiotic and not given without establishing the cause of fever. However tamiflu is used to treat and prevent the flue and you can give it to your daughter till you can manage a consultation from a physician. Mean while for fever you can give her syrup paracetamol which is over the counter medicine along with cold sponging.
