Whne Will The Stitches For A Bartholin Cyst Marsupialization Dissolve?
I had a bartholin cyst marsupialization and have dissolvable stitches. I am almost 6 weeks post-op, and can still feel SOME of the stitches, though everything looks really good/healed. The area where I used to be able to see more stitches is very hard to the touch, and when trying to have intercourse, it's uncomfortable, as if the friction on the area/stitches is going to become painful. Is it possible the skin grew over the stitches (that's why it's hardened), and how long until they will completely dissolve?
The stitches usually loose their strength by 7 days. After that they take variable time to get completely absorbed depending upon the patients constitution and body's immune response.
If you are having pain at surgical site, it is better to get checked by a doctor to see if there is any thread that may need to be removed and also to rule out any infection. Sometimes keloids may develop in scars [ excessive scarring] and they also feel hard. So get it checked. Hope this satisfies your query. Thanks for using HCM.
