Had cervical polyp removed in an office visit today. Dr said some spotting could occur, but I m having heavy bleeding with large clots. Should I be concerned?

Heavy bleeding with large clots is due to bleeding from the stalk of the polyp. Light bleeding is common after cervical polyp removal. Sometimes a blood vessel on the cervix can burst and cause heavy bleeding. This bleeding will usually be self limited and will last less than a few hours. Bleeding that lasts longer should be evaluated by a Dr on an emergency basis.
