Why Do I Still Have A Period After A Year Of Having The Mirena?

Why do I still have a period after a year of having the Mirena? They last about 1-2 weeks and are somewhat lighter, but I had a normal period for about 4 days before. I don't get why I still have a period, my dr said they should have gone away. I hate going back in because I have to pay $73 each time and I am tired of paying it for her to tell me to give it more time.

Hello,
As you have most probably menopausal syndrom (Mirena),at present how much is your age, hope you are passing the age of 47-48, which is usually the age of menopause and during this period of AGE process of menopause setups and it is common that sometimes irregular cycles may be there and vary from scanty bleeding to normal bleeding and not in regular intervals but very much irregular for a year or two in some cases , so you don't worry about your irregular cycles and absence of cycles, it is the normal process to setup the menopause to take place. Good luck and Take care.
