Why Is The Problem Of Sweating And Shivering And Should Regularly Use Antiperspirants?

I have an issue with sweating and shivering at the same time. In general I am prone to excessive and easily-triggered sweating, for most of the year, and must use clinical-strength antiperspirant. Currently, it is winter, and with the cold weather I often myself walking around outside, all bundled up, and very warm, yet cannot stop shivering, whilst simultaneously breaking through my antiperspirant. This may even occur in air-conditioned buildings in summer. I'm a teenager who goes in and out of buildings and temperature-controlled environments very frequently throughout the day, don't know what to do about this strange phenomena. I see my male friends able to wear nothing but a shirt and jacket in below-freezing temperatures, whilst I may start feeling sick after constantly shivering for long periods of time. Help?

Dear patient.
Greetings from health care magic!!! I am Dr Thakker and shall be answering your question.

I can very well imagine your concern for this excessive sweating and shivering which can be emberassing at times. I shall try my best to guide you through the diagnosis and tests for your condition.

You could be suffering from a condition called hyperhidrosis which means in literal words excessive sweating. However there are some systemic diseases which can cause a similar effect.

We need to look for hyperthyroidism which means an excess of thyroid hormones in your body. We can test for it by performing t3,t4 and tsh levels in your blood.

Another condition which can cause this is autonomic dysfunction which is a disease of the sympathetic nervous system affecting the nerves controlling sweating.

Multiples sclerosis is another differential for the diagnosis.

We need to perform tests for autonomic dysfunction and an MRI brain + spine for ruling out multiple sclerosis. a consult with a neurologist can be of help.

I hope this helps you out. If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Thakker.
