Why The Second Impaction Fracture In The Femur Did Not Appear In The First MRI?
I have a healing proximal tibia fracture about 10 weeks from date injury and now at second mri have also found bone marrow odema in the femur just near the knee joint and a second impaction fracture in the femur which did not appear on the first mri. I want to know if this second fracture may have been missed at time of the first mri or how could it now be showing
The images need to be analyzed in detail before saying that the fracture was missed on a previous MRI. The healing itself creates certain changes which can be appreciated at a later date. This is because healing causes sclerosis and callus formation which is absent at the time of injury. This can be a reason why the fracture was not easily visible earlier.
