Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
Acne is a chronic, recurrent skin condition. Treatment varies according to the severity of acne.
For mild acne, Topical treatment alone would suffice but for moderate to severe grade of acne both Oral and Topical antiacne treatment need to be combined to produce the desired results.
In your case, since you are already taking Oral
Minocycline, which is an effective Oral antibiotic for inflammatory acne I would suggest you to continue it.
In addition I would have added topical antiacne preparations like
Benzoyl peroxide gel Or
Clindamycin gel, for active inflammatory acne i.e red, painful and
pustular acne.
At night, you may use a topical Retinoid e.g
Adapalene gel, over the whole affected area.
Topical Retinoids are antiinflammatory and comedolytic and therefore prevent new acne formation in addition to treating exiting ones.
On account of comedolytic properties, topical Retinoids are are also suitable for maintenance of improvement. They may be used alternate days Or twice weekly for maintenance purposes.
