Will There Be Any Side Effect On Fetus By Taking Nicip For Joint Pains?
HI - DOCTOR. I AM A PREGNANT WOMAN WITH SEVERE JOINT PAINS DUE TO REACTIVE ARTHRITIS. I AM USED TO TAKE QUARTER TABLET OF NICIP ON AVERAGE EVERY WEEK. WHAT ARE ITS SIDE EFFECTS ON THE FEOTUS. IS THERE ANY SUBSTITUTE FOR NICIP AS EXTERNAL APPLICATION FOR RELIEF DURING PREGNANCY PERIOD.
Hi and welcome to HCM. Most common and safest analgesic in pregnancy is paracetamol. Aspirin can also be used, but better avoided in third trimester of pregnancy. Topical Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs are better and generally result in negligible blood levels and would be considered to be relatively safe in pregnancy although absorption is increased by use over a large surface area or the application of heat. Its better to consult your gynecologist and he/she will decide on which analgesic is better for you.
Nimesulide (tab nicip) must never be used during any stage of pregnancy. There are serious concerns about its safety. All the best
