Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

I would like to tell you that wisdom tooth extraction is associated with post operative complications like pain, swelling, numbness, difficulty in mouth opening.

You dont worry about the symptoms it will subside after sometimes.
You follow the post operative instructions given by the Dentist properly, take complete course of antibiotics and analgesics, use lukewarm saline gargles, antiseptic mouthwash solution gargles twice daily.

There could be chance of some broken tooth piece left in the socket or dry socket to rule out this visit to the concerned Dentist and get the checkup done and take an x-ray.

Hope this helps out.

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

Your history suggests that you have developed infection.it is necessary for you to visit your dentist once can get it evaluated clinically.even in normal cases post extraction follow up gives satisfaction to both the patient as well as to the doctor.

Feeling of hardness in the swelling suspects infection.is the swelling hot on touch compared to other side?

Also have you completed the course of antibiotic and analgesic?on consultation you might have to restart the course.
Do not worry.visit your dentist as soon as possible and get it evaluated for faster recovery.

Take plenty of fluids and semisolid nutritious diet.avoid stress, and any habits like smoking( if you
have).

Hope it heals soon.
Thanks.
Take care.

Hello dear
Swelling n pain is usual after wisdom tooth removal. So dont worry so much about it. Start doing warm saline rinses 4 to 5 times a day, it ll relieve your swelling and pain.keep on taking your painkillers and antibiotics as prescribed.you ll be fine in 5 to 6 more days.

Hello and welcome to hcm,

The pain post extraction of wisdom tooth may be due to development of dry socket.
Frequent warm saline and betadine rinse can be done.
Use sodium hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide solution to irrigate the socket.
Take complete course of antibiotics-analgesics.
The socket can be done dressing with ZOE/iodoform gauze.
Maintain good oral hygiene too.
Use intermittent hot and cold packs too.
Rinse your mouth after every meals.
Hope this helps.

Hello there ,

Thanks for writing your query,

Extraction of wisdom tooth often ends with complications like pain and swelling post extraction .

usually it takes 7 to 10 days for the extraction wound to heal and close completely provided if there is no infection .

After extraction antibiotic and analgesic coverage is must to prevent infection of the extraction site and to promote healing.

i would suggest you to start with a antibiotic and analgesic course consulting your dentist , which helps in subsiding the swelling and relives post extraction pain.

follow all the post extraction instructions and rinse the mouth with lukewarm saline or antiseptic mouth rinse.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

Hello,
Usually surgical removal of wisdom teeth results in swelling of face which gradually subsides over a period of 2 weeks and mild pain associated with it. There may be slight difficulty in opening the mouth and sometimes there may be paresthesia which is transient. You should take warm saline gargles 3-4 times a day, do mouth opening exercises, continue antibiotics and analgesics.
