Withdrawal From Medication. Will It Cause Depression, Anxiety, Mood Swings?

I have a friend who is taking 60mg per day, he went through a very dark period I. His life 6 years ago, he wants to cease taking his meds as he said he has been feeling ok, no one is monitoring his meds so a review of his health hasn't been done by his GP. What side effects could he encounter from abrupt withdrawal, apart from depression, anxiety, mood swings etc

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
I understand your concern for your friend's health.
It would be important to know the medication he is taking as 60 mg dosage. Since he is having problems for 6 years, it is important to have his condition reviewed by a psychiatrist to know development of any new significant symptoms.
He should not be taking medicines without review and supervision.
There are plenty of medications and as many side effects so please send in additional information to know more about any specific medicines.

Hope this helps.
