Would It Be Effective To Take Birth Control Pills Just Before The Periods?

Hi, I was wondering if I start taking the pill a day or two before I get my period will it delay me getting it? My doctor told me to take the pill on the first day of my period but I would really like to delay getting it for a couple of days, if that is possible.

Hello,

Starting the pill a day or two before the expected date of the period is not going to postpone menstruation. Please take the pill as advised by your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
