Would Taking A Combination Of Aspirin And Dipyridamole Is Safe For Stroke Prevention As Aggrenox?
i am taking aggrenox 25mg/200mg. After my medicare advantage plan pays I still own $125/month. I was advised that a generic is not available til July 2015 but that there is a generic dipyridamole. Would taking a combination of aspirin and dipyridramole be as safe for stroke prevention as aggrenox?

Hi.Welcome and thanks for writing on HCM. Aggrenox contains 200 mg dipyridamole in an extended-release form and 25 mg aspirin, as an immediate-release sugar-coated tablet.Aggrenox is a blood thinner (antiplatelet) and is routinely used to prevent stroke in patients at risk of stroke. In my opinion since this preparation is designed to meet both immediate and delayed need you may not find the generic serving this purpose.Hope this helps and I have answered your query.Take care.
