Wrist Injury, Limited Movement And Strength, Swelling, Bruised Joint Under Thumb. Treatment?

I damaged my wrist 3 weeks ago. Went to A&E and had an X-Ray , no broken bones. However it is now 3 weeks later and I still have very limited movement and strength (in comparison with the other hand) Simple stuff like opening bottles are impossible. The swelling is still very apparent around the back of my hand. and the joint under the thumb is also still bruised and swollen

Hello,
Some injuries of the wrist can severely impact the ligamentous structures and lead to injury of these structures. This would impair the grip strength which is again aggravated by the presence of edema or swelling in the hand. The situation becomes even more complicated if there is injury to the tendons in addition. The best way to get relief is to get a hand splint in the functional position. Also, necessary physiotherapy has to be instituted by a hand therapist as soon as possible. With appropriate physiotherapy you would regain your strength slowly over weeks.
