Wrist Pain, Swelling, Soreness In Region Of IV Drip. When Will Pain Go Away?

Hello, I just gave birth to my daughter 3 weeks ago. When the nurse went to put the IV into my vein on my wrist she pooped through the vein. Now my wrist hurts so bad that I can barely do anythign with it. Its sore and slightly swollen, but not much. It hurts so bad sometimes that I can barely life a thing of wipes or hold my daughter. Should I contact my doctor? When will this pain go away? Someone told me it takes a while, but its 3 weeks now and the pain gets worse each day.
