Wrist Painful, Swollen, Sore After Inserting IV, Unable To Use That Hand. Diagnosed Pseudogout. Suggestion?
Nurse inserted IV into left wrist & was extremely painful she finally removed it after several times in asking. Meds were already going into the IV. My wrist is now swollen & sore to touch. It has been 4 months. I'm 75yrs old. They are saying I have pseudogout. I went into the hospital & had not pain & now I left the hospital & not able to use my left hand. Had MRI done & docs made no comment. What's the correlation of a bad IV insertion & going into the hospital w/o pseudogout & leaving with pseudogout? Thanks
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. This is a case of thrombophlebitis and deep vein thrombosis . Don't be in panic , sometimes it happens as in few patients skin are over sensitive and even mild leakage of intravenous fluid causes such type of condition. Any how you will get relief as , Rub ice ( massage ) 3-4 times in day . Now apply heparin cream over this portion 3-4 times in day. Take serratiopeptidase 20 mg 1-1-1 after consultation with your doctor.
After 15 days you will feel 90 % relief . If vein is hard and tender then blood letting will help. Good luck. Dr. HET
