Jock itch can also be called tinea cruris.

It is caused by a fungal infection and fungal infections can take a long time to resolve. It can sometimes take up to 2 weeks for infections to resolve.

You may want to consider the use of a mild topical steroid for a few days to reduce the inflammation and help with the itching that you are experiencing.
