Little Finger Hurts, Can T Extend, Was Operated And Put 3 Screws. Treatment?

I was playing football and after a play ( I am not sure what happend) my little finger on my left hand hurt badly. Now about five hours after the game, it hurts bad when I extend my finger and when I try to make a fist. Two years ago I broke the same finger and had 3 screws put into it. I don't think the pain has to do with the screws because this time the pain is in the large knuckle at the base of the finger. Do you possibly know what could be wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, as you think it must be the pain of the screws previously fixed, or may be the non union, or a fracture of the malunion of the fragments.
So i advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. You may need to have an xray for diagnosis. Thank you.

Anesthesiologist Dr. Manjeth Kumar G's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.

If you are my patient, I will start with physical examination.
I would look for Tenderness, swelling, crepitations, redness and signs of dislocation.

Then i will give pain killers and send you for X- Ray hand both Anterio posterior as well as oblique view.

If there is any fracture or dislocation, i will treat you under the guidance of my senior orthopedician.

The usual treatment would be immobilization and pain killers.

Hope this will be helpful.
Please reply for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
