What Is The Possible Treatment For Pus And Blood Oozing Out Of Toenail ?

my wife has a toenail which is known to have a fungal problem. She was on Lamisil to cure it though the treatments did not work; this was a few months ago. This evening she was trimming her nails and when she cut the nail smelly pus and blood came out. I am wondering if this is something we should go to emergency for or if this is something that we can wait to see a primary care doctor or if this is something that can be treated at home? any advise would help.

Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

If the bleeding has subsided, there is no severe pain or disclouration there is no cause of concern.
Its likely acute paronychia.

Immersing foot in lukewarm water with table salt added will take cre of the infection. Local application of Framycetin ointment will be helpful.

In case you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.

Wishing you happy and healthy life

Take Care
