Peripheral Neuropathy, Not Diabetic, Severe Pain. Will It End With Death?
I was just trying to find out whether periphial neuropathy eventually is the cause of death, my mum has it but she is not a diabetic, she is getting worse, just wants to stay in bed alot of days now and sleep she is 86years has had it for over 20 years, gradually the pain is getting worse and she is having lots of falls Thank you for your advice Debbie Evans
There is long list of medical conditions which need to be excluded.
I will recommend routine blood test, heart tracing (ECG), urine test and chest X-ray.
If all the above came back as normal, then consider MRI scan of the whole spine to look for spinal compression which can cause poor balance and recurrent falls.
Kind regards

Peripheral Neuropathy, Not Diabetic, Severe Pain. Will It End With Death?
Hi Debbie: Thank you for your question. Peripheral neuropathy is not the cause of your mother current lethargy and being generally unwell.
