Have Dementia, Rashes, Constant Itching. Is Itching A Symptom Of Dementia?
My Mother has dementia and we have been fighting rashes on her body which causes her to itch constantly. We have seen the Doctors and all are trying to find something to help her with this rash for two years. I read somewhere that said itching is a symptom of Dementia and would like to confirm is this true or not. Thank You
Yes you are right. Itching can be a symptom of dementia. Certain people with this disorder are likely to suffer from generalised pruritus as well but we should rule out any skin disease before attributing the itching to dementia. Check if your mother has any skin lesions over the body.
If there are any skin lesions, I would advise you to visit a dermatologist for proper assessment and treatment.
