Cold, Cough, Runny Nose. Taking Droxyl. Suggest Some Medicines?
Hi
Thanks for the query
You seem to be suffering from upper respiratory tract infection.
Tab Droxyl 500mg (Cefadroxil) is a first generation cephalosporin which alone will not be sufficient to take care of the infection. The complete course of antibiotic is for 7-10 days, depending upon the severity of the infection.
Apart from this, you need use saline nasal spray 3-4 times a day, followed by steam inhalation. This helps in reducing the nasal congestion and cough. If there is watery discharge from the nose you will require pseudoephedrine and if thick discharge is noticed a mucolytic such as bromhexine or ambroxol is required.
Drink plenty of warm water; avoid smoking/chilled beverages/coffee.
Hope I have answered your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.

You can definitely take tea but not coffee, as it increases the viscosity of the nasal secretions and worsen your cough.
Cough in your case could be due to the post nasal drip, which causes irritation of the throat. Please use the medications and follow as mentioned in my previous response, you will be alright soon.
Saline (hypertonic salt water) nasal spray is a harmless spray, which can be used at least 3-4 times a day. It helps in relieving the nasal congestion and clearing of the mucus, thus reducing the cough.
Hope this answers your query.
Wish you good health.
