Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Discomfort in right upper abdomen (near liver) can be due to reasons like:-
1-Hepatitis(that is jaundice),
2-Cholecystitis(inflammation or infection of gall bladder),
3-Duodenitis or duodenal ulcer,
4-Gastritis,
To understand it better please write back with few details:-
a-Since how long do you have this discomfort?
b-Does the pain increase or decrease after food?
c-Do you have dark yellow colored urine?
d-Is the discomfort continuous or intermittent?
Kindly write back to be able to help you better.
Awaiting your reply.
Take care.

Thanks for the reply sir,
a-Since how long do you have this discomfort?
I am having this pain for the past 5- days.
b-Does the pain increase or decrease after food?
No, the pain does not increase or decrease after food.
c-Do you have dark yellow colored urine?
No dark coloured urine have been observed so far.
d-Is the discomfort continuous or intermittent?
the discomfort is not continious it just comes and goes.
Additionally, I have been eating a lot for the past last month, due to which my belly(stomach) has come out and I have gained few kilos, Is this could be a reason for this discomfort?

Hello;
Thanks for providing your details.
From your details I guess there should not be any major issue to be worried about.
I feel it could be related to:-
- increased diet, excessive intake of food especially fatty food or sweet food,
- Increased belly and probably lack of exercise,
- Gaseous distention of abdomen.
I would suggest you to:-
1- Cut down on your excess food intake especially fats, sweets, etc.
2- Start on exercise like brisk walking and aerobics,
3- Avoid intake of carbonated drinks, caffeine / alcohol.
If the discomfort does not get better in a week you should consult a doctor and get examined and if needed investigated for any liver related issue.
Hope this answer is helpful to you.
Wishing you good health.
