How Common Is Death During Childbirth?
Question: Hello. I am 38wks pregnant (third pregnancy- other two were the same type of pregnancies with easy vaginal deliveries however i have a terrible fear of dying during childbirth. No history of high blood pressure, gestational diabetes or any complications.

Child birth is very safe these days with recent medical Advancement and upgradation in quality of medical care.
I have conducted many deliveries in my practice in which females have delivered 4 or 5th child. Most of them were uneventful and the ladies are doing well.
Since you have had normal deliveries in past and do not have any medical illnesses alongside, there is no reason for any complications to arise during child birth this time.
Just follow your doctor's advice sincerely and everything will go well.

I think what has me worried is I read about amniotic fluid causing an embolism and that has terrfied me during this pregnancy

Amniotic fluid embolism is a very very rare phenomena and occur more so in people who have pre-eclampsia, diabetes, abdominal trauma, polyhydramnios.
Since you do not have any of these complications and your earlier deliveries have been uneventful, there is no need to worry.
