Brief Answer:
Wait & watch for at least 4 to 6 weeks before considering surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thank you for your query.

1. You should insist that the eardrum is observed every week for al least 4 to 6 weeks to give it a chance to heal on it's own.

2. There is no hurry to operate. Most traumatic perforations close on their own. Only very large ones and those that do not heal after 4 to 6 weeks will require surgery. Keep the ear dry. Infection delays healing.

3. If you can arrange for video oto-endoscopic images of her ear drums, I can give you an accurate assessment. Take a second opinion, if necessary. Also upload a PTA (Pure Tone Audiogram).

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.

Brief Answer:
Locate another ENT Clinic in your area, preferably a teaching hospital .

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Thank you for writing back.

1. Most ENT Clinics, especially those within teaching hospitals/ institutions will have a video endoscope. Usually the ear is seen by a portable handheld battery powered otoscope. Oto endoscopic images are only required as the patient cannot be directly examined by me.

2. You will have to find another Clinic as I practice in XXXXXXX

3. Upload these images and test results.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
