How Long Does An Injury To Ear Drum Take To Heal?
This is XXXXX.
Last week my wife had some issue, my kid inserted earbird in my wife ear.so we have visited Dr, she told some ear drum got damaged and 60% chances to heal and she given antibiotic tabs also. yesterday we have visited again, she told me as of now healing process is not started and will go for surgery like that she told.
So can you please help me on this how much time it will take to heal ?
and in which scenario surgery recommended ?
Plz help on this.
Wait & watch for at least 4 to 6 weeks before considering surgery.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank you for your query.
1. You should insist that the eardrum is observed every week for al least 4 to 6 weeks to give it a chance to heal on it's own.
2. There is no hurry to operate. Most traumatic perforations close on their own. Only very large ones and those that do not heal after 4 to 6 weeks will require surgery. Keep the ear dry. Infection delays healing.
3. If you can arrange for video oto-endoscopic images of her ear drums, I can give you an accurate assessment. Take a second opinion, if necessary. Also upload a PTA (Pure Tone Audiogram).
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
Right now I don't have any video oto-endoscopic images as because, that Dr she only seen ear with some endoscopic equipment.
can you please let me know you clinic address,so will visit your clinic.
Thanks

Locate another ENT Clinic in your area, preferably a teaching hospital .
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank you for writing back.
1. Most ENT Clinics, especially those within teaching hospitals/ institutions will have a video endoscope. Usually the ear is seen by a portable handheld battery powered otoscope. Oto endoscopic images are only required as the patient cannot be directly examined by me.
2. You will have to find another Clinic as I practice in XXXXXXX
3. Upload these images and test results.
I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Actually I am little bit confused for above reply.
Can I visit your clinic for this issue.
Thanks
