Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Antibiotic prophylaxis is not recommended in all patients with joint replacemments undergoing a dental procedure .This is indicated in patients with a high risk of developing a joint infection from a bacteremie resulting from a dental procedure ( patients with diabetes , weak immune system etc) and only in invasive dental procedures ( like tooth extraction).

Your treating doctor and dentist can tell you if you need an antibiotic before this procedure.
If yes than Clindamycin 600 mg one hour before the procedure is the right antibiotic for you , knowing that you have an allergy to Penicillin.

Hope it answers your query.

Kind regards,
Dr.Murati
