Is It Necessary To Have Surgery For Uterine Fibroid?
Surgery needed only if excessive bleeding is there.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
I have seen the attached report. Your mother has a small fibroid in the posterior wall.
Fibroids do not need treatment unless symptomatic. If your mother is having no pain or heavy bleeding or any other symptoms then there is no need to operate.
Fibroids are non-cancerous growths that appear during childbearing years and rarely require treatment - only when they cause discomfort, sharp Pelvic pains or Profuse Menstrual Bleeding.
They gradually shrink when you attain Menopause.
If she has bleeding, she might do any of the following surgical procedures to remove it:
1.) Myomectomy, that is removal of the Fibroid either through Open abdominal surgery, Laparoscopically or Hysteroscopically.
2.) Uterine Artery embolization, which cuts the blood supply to the tissue.
3.) Burning it using heat or Microwave energy.
Your treating doctor will know which procedure will suit her better if at all he/she considers it necessary.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The fibroid size has decreased in last 6 months. If the bleeding is well controlled with the help of Sevista then there is no need for surgery. She can reduce the dosage of sevista to once a week after consulting her gynecologist.
Hope my answer is helpful.
