Is Keyhole Surgery An Option For Knee Pain?
My dad is suffering from knee pain from a while. He consulted many doctors, but no improvement. We have done an MRI Scan 3 months before, one of the doctor suggested to undergo keyhole surgery. I just want to reconfirm whether we can go for keyhole or do we have any alternate process.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case and reports.
Key hole surgery will give temporary relief for 6 months to 1 year. Key hole surgery is not permanent solution and is not a must do surgery at your dads age.
In arthroscopic shaving damaged cartilage is smoothened and loose friable cartilage is removed. So it does not cure disease.
Alternatives-Newer modalities for cartilage injury include autologous chondrocyte implantation [ACI] which helps in treatment of cartilage destruction.
Life style modification like
Avoiding steps and using western style toilets etc would be helpful.
Total knee replacement also can be considered in future for better pain free knee.
