Suggest Remedies For Recurrent Candidal Otitis Externa

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Sep 2016
Question: Hi. I already consulted 5 ent doctors and nothing happens. My right ear has clear discharge every morning and every time I chewi can feel the itch of water that produces my ear. It's really itchy it comes to the point I can't longer hear and felt the discomfort that something in the passage blocks. So I went to my ent and told me it has fungus. There are white flakes on the hair inside my ear. He didn't do anything to remove the itch nor hear clearly again. He didn't clean it or whatsoever but only prescribe me with Synalr Otic which I followed and drop it 3x everyday nonstop. Nothing happens and I still feels annoyed bec I can only hear less. After my 4th consultations with ent with the same treatment. I just research it and found out to irrigate my left ear to remove the earwax that blocks my hearing. And so I did. A half inch white skin came out and I now hear very clear. My problem is every two weeks it's coming back again and again so my treatment is irrigation to hear back again ang to clean it. I'm afraid this will destroy my ear :(
Help me remove my fungus in my ear. I did almost everything. I drop vinegar, olive with garlic, oil and surround my infected ear to onion. Help me cure this. I'm frustrated to all ent I encountered

Brief Answer:
Recurrent candidal otitis externa

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting the query

I have gone through the history thoroughly and understood your problem. I am of the opinion that you are having recurrent candidal otitis externa.

First of all, we need to rule out any allergic skin issue. Recurrent skin allergy can cause inflammation of the auditory canal skin followed by oozing of clear fluid. When the ear is wet for a long time, the fungus start growing.

The best remedy for this is:
1. Consult a dermatologist to identify any skin allergy and then get it treated accordingly.
2. Use 2% acetic acid every day for a week and later once a day, in a week. Acetic acid keeps the medium of the external auditory canal acidic, thus preventing any growth of fungus.
3. Avoid cleaning the ear using qtips, finger and any other instrument.

Hope this answers your query; I will be available for the follow-up queries.
