i had grommets inserted a year ago .when i went back to hospital for routine check doc said grommets had come out but were imbedded in ear wax andb toldme to use eardrops to remove it..after going to my gp found out grrommets are still in place but no sign of wax. However i feel more blocked up than ever.Could it be that grommets are now blocked?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Grommets are ejected depending upon their type (6 months - 1 year). If they are still in your ear drum after 1 year then they must be examined by the ENT surgeon to make sure they are not blocked and also to follow up on a condition for which they were inserted.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
