Suggest Treatment For A Bruise On The Left Arm

I fell down a flight of steps. I was seen by the squad and the next day saw my doctor. Nothing broken but quite a few bruises. Thus my question. My left arm was badly bruised at the shoulder. Since that time(Monday at the doctor's office) the bruise has"grown" now to within about two inches of my wrist. Finally the question- should I be concerned this late at night or just check in with my doctor in the morning?
can reach the pinnacle by day 2 to 3
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
A contusion is an injured area of the body/skin where there has been a break/rupture of the small blood vessels/capillaries.
This causes the bruised appearance.
The bruised area can extend after the acute injury, this normally occurs up to 48 hours after the injury then it stabilizes. With most injuries, the pinnacle is reached by day 2 to 3 days.
R.I.C.E therapy is normally done in the first 24 to 48 hours-- rest, ice, compression bandage, elevation
In most cases, the signs and symptoms improve by 10 days though there may be some residual discoloration.
Medications can be used if it is painful eg paracetamol or one of the anti inflammatory medications such as NSAIDs (eg naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen etc though some persons worry that the anti inflammatory meds may slow healing and increase the risk of bleeding
You can check with your doctor in the am
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
