There is a small focus of altered signal shown in the subarticular region of the lateral femoral condyle indicating a shallow focal depressed / contusion type injury with surrounding bone marrow oedema. There is no evidence of a discreet fracture. The remainder of the visualised skeleton shows normal MRI signal. There is altered linear signal shown in the posterior horn of the medial meniscus indicating an undisplaced medial tear. There is also a short linear altered signal shown anteriorly in the lateral meniscus indicating either degeneration or a small undisplaced tear. Otherwise the lateral meniscus shows normal MRI signal.

MRI Said Small Focus Of Altered Signal Shown In The Subarticular Region Of The Lateral Femoral Condyle. Meaning?
Dear friend, welcome to HCM! The MRI shows a blunt injury to the bone in the lower end of the thigh bone near the articlating(joint) surface of the condyle with some swelling of the marrow. No fracture is seen. There is a probable tear of the articulating rings (sort of shock absorbers) in the knee joints called medial and lateral meniscus. Your ortho surgeon would examine you physically and advise you the course to be taken. Was that simple? !! Take care and please keep me informed of your progress. Good Luck! I hope to have answered your query satisfactorily. Thank you!
