Suggest Treatment For Blackheads On The Forehead
Blackheads are a form of acne
Detailed Answer:
Hi, , thanks for using healthcaremagic,
Acne can present in different ways including as blackheads.
There are 4 causes of acne/pimples:(1) excess production of an oily waxy substance called sebum in the skin
(2) blockage of the hair follicles in the skin
(3) inflammation/ irritation of the skin
(4) presence of a particular bacteria on the skin
If most or all of theses causes are addressed , it would help.
In general most regimens recommend a initial combination of treatment consisting of antibiotics ( to treat the bacteria), topical retinoids ( these breakdown the bumps and also reduce inflammation). Benzoyl peroxide can be added to this , it also fights bacteria, redu es inflammation and opens blocked areas.
If the rash is very widespread, a course of oral antibiotics instead of topical may be needed to treat the bacteria.
Topical antibiotic- clindamycin
Topical retinoids-adapalene, tazarotene, tretinoin
Adapalene and beezoyl peroxide also come in a combined form called epiduo.
If the combination of topical antibiotic, topical retinoids and Benzoyl peroxide is not effective then oral retinoids and oral antibiotics would be needed.
Oral contraceptives, if you are not trying to conceive, or if there is no medical reason that you cannot use, would also help
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
