Suggest Treatment For Contusion And Concussion
Question: How much is this going to cost, I already pay several doctors thru the nose. And I know insurance will not cover this extra expense.
I have 3 damaged heart valves that causes regurgitation into the ventricular. Before this was diagnosed, I had a syncopal episode where while I was completely unconscious, I somehow made it across the hotel room, apparently hit the wall, slid to the floor, causing a BLACK contusion and concussion, 2 fractures and deviated septum, 4 fractured teeth and 2 cracked teeth. My right nostril was bleeding like a faucet and I was laying in a very large pool of blood. I have the feeling that I died and my husband brought me back. Have no idea how long I was out. I had 4 mild heart attacks before this episode but the ones I have now are very different. What actually happened to me?

Let me start answering your question by taking out a leaf from my personal life. My father had a very similar syncope attack like the one you had and he too had the same question at that time, around 12 years back. Very often the person having a syncope does not remember the situation as it happens all of a sudden and consciousness is regained minutes later.
What exactly happens is the heart is unable to perform optimum pumping function of forcing the blood out of the left ventricle into the aorta. The aorta is a main channel taking oxygen rich blood out of the heart to be supplied to various organs in the body from head to toe.
A slightly less pumping than normal causes decreased flow of blood to the brain through the carotid and vertebral arteries. At certain times an area of the brain may receive low blood supply that can temporarily shut it off for a few seconds. This leads to a blackout and is known as a syncope. Trauma during the blackout led to the injuries. Recovery from a syncope varies with the area of brain affected and in most cases there is complete recovery of the brain tissues. If ignored, over a period of time a larger area can be devoid of blood supply and this can manifest into a stroke.
The heart valve dysfunctions were preexisting in you and that might have resulted in the insufficient pumping of blood leading to the syncope. It is also true that there was deficient supply to the heart tissues as well when you might have had the syncope. This might have caused a mild irreversible heart ischemic injury which can be evaluated in detail by an echocardiography.
