Suggest Treatment For Eosinophilia With Severe Asthma
Question: Trying to get an answer on what may be happening to me, about 2 years ago my symptoms started abruptly with no warning. I was hospitalized 3 times since due to respiratory failure though I am a non smoker, my symptoms include the following.
Elevated eosinophil levels
Elevated hemoglobin levels
Sudden on-set severe asthma (no prior history)
Loss of appetite
Weight loss
I've seen multiple doctors and no one seems to be able to give me a proper diagnosis, it was suggested churg strauss syndrome may be the cause but I did some research on that and every person who has ever been diagnosed with that has had a long history of both asthma and sinus problems yet I have not had a history of either.
I'm a 25 year old male, was pretty normal and healthy before these symptoms started, non smoker. The only causes I can think of are the following.
A tooth infection that I recently had a root canal done to resolve the issue (it's been about 2 months with little change in symptoms)
I was living in an apartment that turned out to have a large amount of mold in it when my symptoms started (moved out of that place almost immediately with little change in symptoms)

I'm not sure how my medical records are going to change anything as I've laid out exactly the symptoms I have and I would prefer not to submit confidential medical information beyond a base level of what is happening.
If possible please layout a list of causes in the order of most likely to least and I will use the suggestions when I see my next doctor appointment. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
churg strauss syndrome, pulmonary eosinophilia, fungal

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
From the information you provided you have maximum chance of churg strauss syndrome. Because you have asthma, eosinophilia and respiratory failure also.
Other cause are due to eosinophilic lung diseases, toxic mold infection etc.
From x ray findings you can get some idea regarding cause. But its ok if you want to keep it personal. Don't worry.
You have history of mold exposure so there is chance that toxic mold can leads to respiratory distress with eosinophilia.
So talk with your doctor's about possibilities.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
